Occupational Safety and Health Protection Staff Unit (S9)
The staff of the Occupational Safety and Health Department advise the hospital board, department heads, and employees of Magdeburg University Hospital on matters related to occupational safety and health, including ergonomic workplace design. In addition, or with a particular focus, we provide advice on fire safety, hazardous materials, hazardous substances, waste disposal, genetic engineering, and biological materials.
Further responsibilities are outlined, among other places, in § 6 of the Occupational Safety Act.
Our Services
- Workplace inspections in collaboration with the occupational health service and the staff council
- Investigations of workplace accidents and processing of accident reports
- Consulting and support in the preparation of risk assessments
- Support in risk management and the tracking of measures
- Support in the preparation of the hospital alarm and emergency response plan
- Management of the FACT24 alarm system
- Consulting on the procurement of personal protective equipment, first aid supplies, and skin protection products
- Support in the preparation and delivery of safety briefings
- Training for safety officers, managers, and fire safety assistants
- Preliminary measurements of environmental factors and air quality
- Verification of compliance with occupational exposure limits for hazardous substances
- Occupational safety and fire protection assessments for investment projects
- Consulting on the transport of hazardous materials
- Hazardous waste disposal
